About
I'm a British-born, Australian-bred winemaker living in New Zealand. The two questions I get asked most are: "What's your favourite wine?" — which I answer at bucketlist.wine — and "Do you have a wine fridge?"
The answer to the second question is yes. Two, in fact.
I bought my first wine fridge — a Liebherr WKt 5552 GrandCru — early in my career, when it represented a serious chunk of my salary. I still own it. That was over fifteen years ago, and it has been running without issue ever since, quietly maturing wines I can't wait to open. A few years later I added a smaller DeLonghi dual-zone unit for the wines I actually want to drink this week.
Buying both of those fridges involved a lot of research. Not because I enjoy spreadsheets, but because I understood that a bad wine fridge is worse than no wine fridge — it gives you false confidence while slowly ruining bottles you spent years acquiring. I wanted to get it right.
What This Site Is About
bestwinefridge.com covers wine fridges that are genuinely worth owning — units built for proper long-term wine storage and maturation, not just chilling a bottle before dinner. I only recommend fridges I'd consider buying myself. Nothing cheap and nasty. Nothing that'll quit on you in three years.
If you're building a collection worth protecting, you're in the right place.
